Winchester Homes Volunteers as Building Captain with HomeAid of Northern Virginia to Construct the new ACTS Family Services Center.

ACTS Family Services Center will help homeless Women, Children and Families in Dumfries and Prince William County, Virginia.

Bethesda, MD (May 9, 2008) – Winchester Homes announced today the new ACTS Family Services Center grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Dumfries, Virginia. Winchester Homes volunteered their charitable building resources serving as the “Building Capitan” to complete construction of the new facility. Winchester Homes’ team members along with the tireless efforts of many volunteer subcontractors completed the project in just over 12-months from ground breaking to ribbon cutting.

ACTS Family Services Center Ribbon CuttingThe new ACTS Family Services Center will serve homeless women, children and families in the Dumfries area and Prince William County, Virginia. The center will also operate programs intended to help prevent homelessness in the area. The new center is over 7,000 square feet. It will help the community by offering job counseling services, financial counseling services, life skills classes and provide access to a food bank for homeless women, children and families. Phase II of the project will include renovating an existing homeless shelter and adding two bedrooms to the current ACTS Family Services Center.

The ribbon cutting event will include an opening prayer from Reverend Bob Allard, keynote address from the Honorable Tom Davis – Congressman from the 11th District along with comments from David Cogley , president of HomeAid board and Todd Schermerhorn, vice president of operations – Winchester Homes.
