Winchester Homes names Alan E. Shapiro as President

11-year company veteran promoted from senior vice president of operations

Bethesda, MD (March 21, 2008) – Alan E. Shapiro will assume the position of president at Bethesda, Maryland-based homebuilder Winchester Homes effective March 31. Mr. Shapiro, 47, replaces Larry Burrows who was promoted to become the new President and CEO of the Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company (WRECO). Winchester Homes is Weyerhaeuser’s operation in the Washington DC area. WRECO itself is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fortune 100 Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) based in Seattle, Washington.

Mr. Shapiro takes the helm after serving in almost every facet of the homebuilder’s operations, including sales, marketing and purchasing. His successes have been many. While serving as vice president of marketing, he was responsible for brand development of the exclusive Winchester Homes’ Your Home. Your Way.™ design process and launch of the winchesterhomes.com corporate website. While vice president of sales, he directed the consolidation of the Maryland and Virginia sales organizations. In his most recent position, he developed Camberley Homes, their luxury home division. Mr. Shapiro also provided hands-on leadership for the development of the Artistry Collection, Winchester Homes’ entry into the age 55 and order market segment.
